The Food Project
Aims and likely Cross Border benefits of the project:The Food Project’ is to address the need for members from Leonard Cheshire in Omagh and The Peter Bradley Foundation in Letterkenny with Acquired Brian Injury to gain a qualification in horticulture and business in order to fulfil the projects ambition of developing a sustainable market garden in the future. The members will work together one day per week to develop their horticultural skills, business skills and personal autonomy, with the shared ambition to sustain a market garden business in Omagh and /or Donegal. It will also increase the member’s opportunity to work in this field in the future.
Project Objectives:
- Get Going will work in partnership with Peter Bradley to deliver training and progression support to the shared client group with acquired brain injury
- The Food Project will increase the clients autonomy, skill level, network of friends, future potential
- To increase the chance of a meaningful day time activity being made available to the group in the future
- To increase the likelihood of a sustainable rural enterprise being developed after the 6 month/1 year period following the project end
- To develop a sustainable relationship between the statutory, voluntary and community services in Tyrone and Donegal through the establishment of the steering group
- The promoters will work together to promote the need of disabled people in Tyrone & Donegal
- To install effective monitoring and evaluation tools to measure progress with the project
