The Far Side of the River Foyle
Aims and likely Cross Border benefits of the project:
The aim of the project is to kick-start the rural regeneration of both communities and to create opportunities for local enterprise and job creation through workshops, research and a conference looking into the potential for regeneration and development in the area. This will build on work that has already been undertaken by both groups in terms of local research, audits, and websites (http://www.breadyancestry.com/, St Johnston site currently under development) concentrating on the heritage, culture, environment and archaeology in the areas. It will also help to create cross border links between the two communities.
Project Objectives:
- To identify cultural, archaeological, historical sites in the St Johnston area.
- To build on research already carried out in North Tyrone and to connect both pieces of work with a view to developing future initiatives.
- To support and develop cross border cooperation to facilitate the creation of rural social and economic development.
