The Meet the Funders Event attracted great numbers of community groups and interested individuals from Donegal and Tyrone. Those in attendance had the opportunity to make their way around the numerous funders in attendance and find out first hand the suitability of their project for funding and support. There was an abundance of information available to take away, and contacts to follow up.
PJ Molloy, Chairman of Tyrone Donegal Partnership opened the Event, welcoming Pat the Cope Gallagher as the Special Guest for the evening. All present were entertained by two musical projects supported through the Removing Barriers Programme, Academy Boy, Strabane and their partners, Glenties Brass Band in addition to Donegal School of Music and their cross border partner Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann, An Droim Mor.
Adrian Mc Namee from SEUPB provided a timely update on the current status of Peace III and Interreg IV. Paul Skinnader, Border Action and John Mc Daid from the International Fund for Ireland, core funders of the Removing Barriers Programme, endorsed the programme and presented opportunities coming up in the near future.
The funding and support organisations in attendance were as follows:
- Interreg IV
- Peace III
- International Fund for Ireland
- Border Action
- Dept. of Agriculture & Rural Development
- NICVA
- Donegal VEC
- Ulster Community Investment Trust
- Cooperation Ireland
- Dept. Social, Community & Family Affairs
- Donegal Local Development Company
- Rural Development Council
- Inishowen Partnership
- Inishowen Rural Development Ltd.
- Udras na Gaeltachta.
The Removing Barriers Management team would like to thank both the community groups who took the time to attend the event and the funders who represented their organisations on the night. We wish everyone a Prosperous and Successful 2008!
