About the scheme

The Department of Foreign Affairs has at its disposal a Reconciliation Fund for North-South and Anglo-Irish Co-operation.

Its purpose is to assist organisations involved in reconciliation work and efforts to create better understanding between people on the island of Ireland and between Ireland and Britain.
Applications for assistance are considered under the following criteria: -

  • reconciliation through education; dialogue and culture;
  • developing and maintaining meaningful cross-border links;
  • promoting improved Anglo-Irish relations;
  • promoting cross-community and inter-denominational activities;
  • promotion of tolerance and acceptance of cultural diversity;
  • academic research aimed at promoting reconciliation;
  • contribution to political reconciliation.

Example Grants:  Northwest Rural Development Limited, Greencastle, Co. Donegal – allocation will be used to support The Celtic European Festival of the Sea which will bring together communities and cultures from Ireland, North & South, Britain, Europe, Norway and Canada. One of the primary aims will be to engage the entire community along the coast, in promoting economic, social and educational development within these areas. Allocation: €20,000

About the scheme

The Energy Globe is awarded to projects from all over the world which make careful and economical use of resources and employ alternative energy sources.

The winning projects are presented in the categories earth, fire, water, air and youth at a tv gala, which is broadcast by international TV stations reaching 2.5 billion households.

Every year, about 700 projects from all over the world are submitted in the Energy Globe Award competition. Submitted projects are presented in the Energy Globe data base which is accessible in the near future for interested persons.

How to Apply

Anyone wishing to apply for the Energy Globe Award must complete an application.

  • 1) You can either fill in the online application form and send your project documentation and supporting materials by email or post or
  • 2) download the application form (pdf) and send it together with your project documentation and supporting materials in digital form or a hardcopy.
